Local Love: Get Organized for Spring!
Organization & Relocation’s Top Tips To Get You Ready For Spring (or a move!)
Whether you're spiffing up your current space or making moves into a new home this season, we recommend following top tips from Organization & Relocation founder, Sheryl Hadley, for tackling your spring cleaning with meaning!
Be strict when decluttering. #sparkreality - Do you use it? Do you love it? Do you appreciate it? These are the 3 questions we always ask on a project - and to ourselves when tidying our own spaces! Less clutter means fewer things to dust, less mess to look at, and less time spent finding things. Now you'll have time to do more of what you love and a lot more mental space as well.
Make and use a checklist. Creating a list will help you see everything that needs to be organized. Start in one room and move through the whole house, noting each place that needs some TLC. Once you have an idea of the areas throughout your home that need some attention, you can prioritize thus giving you a place to start. Prioritize the place that needs sprucing the most to make your life easier and go down from there.
Focus on one area at a time. Try and stay focused on one area until it's complete even if it takes days. It is likely that you will come across many items that don't belong in that room so just put them aside in a bin to deal with once you've finished. Put the bin just outside the room so it does not take up your mental space while you are in the process.
Use a second pair of eyes! If you feel stuck organizing a certain drawer or cabinet, sometimes the answer is simply to have another person offer a fresh perspective. Or the answer is hiring Organization & Relocation to help you through the tougher categories.
