Habitat for Humanity Build Day

On Friday, June 4th, we participated in a Habitat for Humanity Build Day, along with several of our Colorado Landmark, Realtors colleagues. This is the second build day we have held at the Palo Parkway project and the 22nd and Violet project in North Boulder. We love participating in these build days that help build affordable homes for families in need in Boulder County.

Our Boulder Colorado Real Estate community is lacking in affordable and available housing and this is a core business problem as well as a social problem. We believe that housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities, and that everyone should have a safe place to call home.

Habitat for Humanity strives to create homeownership opportunities for those in need, not by simply giving them a home, but by partnering with them to reduce housing costs to make it possible for them to afford to live in communities like Boulder. They offer several levels of support such as:

  • Homebuyer education and one-on-one coaching

  • Down payment assistance and closing cost help

  • Mortgage pre-approval from TCHFH Lending, Inc.

  • Affordable monthly mortgage payments

  • Post-purchase support

We were lucky during our build day to have the future homeowners, Ruben and Stephanie, there to help - in fact, Habitat requires that new homeowners actively participate in the building of their homes. They work to keep housing costs at 30% of their monthly living expenses.

We love being a part of this important organization that is near and dear to our hearts, and look forward to our next build day in Boulder or one of our surrounding communities.

Our vision: a world where everyone has a decent place to live

At Flatirons Habitat for Humanity, we know that a world in which every person has a decent place to live is also a more educated and equitable world. By creating opportunities for affordable homeownership, we strengthen families and communities.

Our mission: to build strength, stability, self-reliance - and shelter

Flatirons Habitat for Humanity partners with the people in our community - and across the world - to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With the support of our volunteers, partners, and donors, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build better lives for themselves and for their families.

Our history: serving the community for 25 years

Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller with the goal of providing adequate shelter to those in need. Today, Habitat for Humanity has served more than 9.8 million people in more than 70 countries around the world, and completes the construction or repair of a home every four minutes.

Flatirons Habitat was chartered as a Habitat for Humanity International affiliate in 1993. Our first homeowners, the Portillos, moved into their Habitat home on May 21, 1994. Since then, we have served nearly 100 families in the Boulder-Broomfield area by building, repairing, and rehabilitating homes.

Flatirons Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: All who believe everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with our work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people.
